Pirates Use Long Ball And Great Pitching to Get Past Delgado

The Pirates defeated Delgado 6-2 thanks to great starting pitching from starter Evan Floyd. The sophomore allowed 4 hits 1 earned run and tallied 6 strikeouts over six innings to get his first win of the season. 

The Pirates got the offense going right from the start with a leadoff walk followed by a double from Richard Sorrenti. Josh Rulli recorded an RBI groundout and Griffin Rivers hit a sacrifice fly to left to push the second run across for PSC. In the second inning, Ryan Brewer hit a solo homerun to push the Pirate lead to 4-0. 

Delgado added 1 run in the 3rd inning and 1 in the 4th to cut the lead in half. Sorrenti added a  2 run homer of his own in the 7th to push the score to 6-2. 

Louis Davenport threw one scoreless inning in relief while striking out three.

Sorrenti led the Pirates going 2-2 with a double, and home run

Brewer went 1-2 with a home run 

Martin took the loss for Delgado. 

 

Pirates are back in action with a double header starting at 11'oclock
