PSC Baseball Opens Conference with 4-1 Win Over NWF

Pensacola State (14-12, 1-0) opened their conference season with a 4-1 road win over Northwest Florida Thursday night. The Pirates would add one run in the 3rd on a Fausto Lopez solo homerun, his second of the year. PSC would answer again with a run in the 4th inning on a RBI single from Ryan Brewer scoring Diaz from third. In the top of the 7th, PSC would cushion their lead with back to back RBI singles from Fausto Lopez and Luke Coker. That would be all the runs the Pirates would need to close things out.

Ryan Brewer (2-1) got the start on the mound and was magnificent for the Pirates for seven innings. The sophomore only rendered two hits, 0 runs, while striking out nine and kept Raider hitters off balance all night. Tyson Ellis threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen to earn his third save of the year.

Fausto Lopez came to the ballpark and meant business on Thursday, tallying four hits, 2 runs, 2RBI's and a solo HR. Pirate hitters totaled 14 hits on the day with every hitter recording at least one hit.

The Pirates are back in action today with a home double header versus Northwest Florida with first pitch at 3:00pm.
