Baseball Wins 3 On The Weekend

Pensacola State Baseball won three of four games over the weekend. The Pirates offense came to life, scoring 31 runs in four games while also throwing a perfect game Saturday night. With the wins, the Pirates move to 3-4 on the season. Continue reading below for individual game recaps. 

Bryant & Stratton 9 PSC 3 (9 innings)

Pensacola watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-3 loss. Jovanni Canegitta scored on a pass ball to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead at the end of 1. Bryant and Stratton would answer with 8 runs off of starter Dominick Miller in the second inning to put the game away early. The Pirates had opportunities to cut into the lead but couldn't manage to come up with the big hit. Jovanni Canegitta (2-4, 1R,1RBI), Brayden Morrow (2-4,1R), and Xavier Bussey (2-3) would lead PSC at the plate. Logan Smith and Cole Moore would combine to throw 7 innings without allowing an earned run for the Pirates, 

Enterprise 10 PSC 12 (7 Innings)

Pensacola State stole the lead late in the game in a 12-10 victory. Enterprise would take a 10-3 lead into the bottom of the 5th inning which is when the Pirate bats would come to life. The Pirates would score nine runs in the frame. Xavier Bussey, Hunter Brittain, Brayden Morrow, and Brandon Schrepf would all collect consecutive singles to give the Pirates the lead. Brandon Schrepf would connect on his first homerun of the season in the 4th inning. Cole Beverlin would get the win on the mound and Cameron Kelly would get the save after two scoreless innings of relief. Pensacola tallied 11 hits in the game. 

Bryant & Stratton 0 PSC 9 (7 innings)

The story in game three was pitcher David Warren. The freshman threw a perfect game, retiring all 21 batters he faced. Warren filled the strike zone up all night throwing 45 of 61 pitches for strikes. The Pirates took control of the game early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Pensacola would collect 8 hits in the game with 5 doubles and steal 10 bases.  Jovanni Canegitta (2-3, 2R,2B) and Allende Gil (2-3, 2R,RBI, 2 doubles) led PSC at the plate. 

Bryant & Stratton 2 PSC 7 (9 innings)

Kyle Music would get the win for the Pirates on the mound Sunday. Music would throw three scoreless innings in relief while striking out two. Pensacola would grab the lead with two runs in the second inning with back to back singles from Jovanni Canegitta and Juan Trinidad. In the sixth the Pirates would put the game away with two more runs on another Trinidad single and a passed ball. PSC had 10 hits on the afternoon and 5 stolen bases. 

Pensacola will be in action Friday-Sunday in New Orleans to play Delgado.
