PSC Goes 1-3 On Weekend

PSC Baseball went 1-3 on the weekend opening up with a 10-6 win over Bishop State on Friday afternoon. The Pirates would drop all three games to Wallace of Dothan on Friday and Saturday. Pensacola's record falls to 9-10 on the year. Check below for game recaps of the weekend. 

PSC 10 Bishop 6

Despite allowing five runs in the fourth inning, Pensacola State defeated Bishop State 10-6 on Friday. PSC would score nine runs in the first three innings as the offense would get things rolling early. Bishop would cut into the Pirate lead in the fourth to cut the lead to 9-5. Bishop would tack on another run in the sixth inning but the Pirates would answer with one run in the bottom of the eighth to close out the game. 

David Warren would get his third win of the year on the mound for Pensacola. The right-hander would allow 6 runs with only 1 earned while striking out 9 over his 6 innings of work. Cam Kelly would relieve Warren and earn his second save of the year. Kelly would go 3 innings of no hit ball while shutting out Bishop State in the late innings. 

Xavier Bussey (3/4, 4R,HR, 2RBI's) would hit his second homerun of the season. Jovanni Canegitta and Brayden Morrow would also have multiple hits for Pensacola. 

PSC 3 Wallace Dothan 7

Pensacola State fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-3 loss to Wallace of Dothan on Friday night. The Governors would take a 4-0 lead after three innings of play. In the bottom of the fourth Pensacola would cut into the lead on a 2 run homerun from Hunter Brittain, his third of the year, to close the lead to 4-2. Pensacola would add another run one inning later on a double steal to make it a 4-3 game. In the sixth, Dothan would pull away with 3 runs on two hits and gain a 7-3 lead. Pensacola wouldn't be able to push another run across in the last two innings. 

Jovanni Canegitta led the Pirates with 2 hits.

PSC 2 Wallace Dothan 8

Pensacola struggled to contain the Governor offense Saturday afternoon. Dothan would jump out to a 3-0 lead from the very first inning. Pensacola would get back into the game with a run in the second and a run in the third to make the score 3-2. The Pirates would fail to shut Dothan down in the next half-inning as a two run homerun would extend Dothan's lead to 5-2. Pensacola's offense couldn't add any more runs as Dothan would cruise to an 8-2 victory. 

PSC would only record three hits in the game.  Kyle Music would take the loss on the mound. 

PSC 4 Wallace Dothan 12

Pensacola would take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning but Dothan offense would continue to roll Pirate pitching. The Governors would score in every inning after the first and cruise to a 12-4 victory. The Pirates would cut the lead to one with three runs in the fourth inning. Michael Materetsky would take the loss on the mound by giving up 7 runs in 4.2 innings of work. 

Brandon Schrepf would add 2 hits to lead pensacola at the plate. 

 

The Pirates are back in action this weekend as Delgado CC will come to town for a 3 game sereis starting Friday at 6:00pm.
