Slow Start Costs Pirates in 74-64 Loss to NWF

Pensacola State (11-7, 0-1) opened Panhandle Conference play hosting  #1 Northwest Florida State (17-0, 1-0). In the first half it was either great defense by both teams, or sloppy play by both.  The Pirates held the Raiders to 29 points and 10 turnovers but the Pirates only managed 17 points and had 18 turnovers.  In the second, both teams settled down and got their offenses going. PSC was able to cut the lead to 4 points at 61-57 with about five minutes to go, but two late three's put the game away. NWF would hang on to win 74-64.

The Pirates only turned the ball over 3 times in the second half (21 for the game); while Northwest had 10 more in the second half (for a total of 20).

NWFS was led by Andres Feliz with 27 points.  Chris Duarte had 16 points 2 assists and 3 steals.  Kelvin Robinson added 12 points and 5 rebounds.
