Pensacola State (17-10, 6-4) defeated Chipola College (17-10, 5-6) 80-69 to take sole possession of third place in the Panhandle Conference. PSC is one game behind Gulf Coast State with two games to go. The Pirates trailed by one at the half (24-23). PSC shot 31% (10% 3's) in the first. In the second, the game remained close until the last six minutes when the Pirates built a 12 point lead with 3:30 to go. Chipola was given their sixth conference loss and are now eliminated from post-season play.
The Pirates were lead by Shawndarius Cowart with 22 pts. (12/12 FT's.), 8 rebs, and 4 assists. Dexter McKenzie added 13 pts. Chipola was led by Lance Erving with 17 pts. Marial Mading had 15. David Pierce and Christian Loring added 10 pts a piece.
PSC travels to first place Tallahassee CC next Wednesday in another must win situation.
