The Pirates hosted Kankakee last week and picked up two wins.

In the first game Pensacola State got on the board in the second inning. Natalie Sorensen and Sadie Rusteika started things with singles and an error scored the first run. When Raquel Latta stole second base, Rusteika was able to take home and make the score 2-0. A hard single through the right side from Kaeleen Koehler plated two more runs to give the Pirates a 4-0 lead.

The lead was extended in the third inning when a single, walk and fielder's choice loaded the bases. Raquel Latta worked a walk to score PSC's fifth run of the game.

The pitching and defense held for the rest of the game the Pirates took the win. Shayne O'Connell went the distance on the mound and struck out 13 while only allowing two hits. Kaeleen Koehler helped pace the offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBI's while Ashley Valencia and Sadie Rusteika both added two hits.

In the second game PSC got on the board in the first inning courtesy of an RBI single to right from Ashley Valencia. They added another run in the third when Kaeleen Koehler walked and advanced to third on Alexis Guzman's double. Koehler then scored on a sacrifice fly from Valencia.

Savannah Foster was in control on the mound for the whole game and struck out a season high 15 while only giving up three hits. Alexis Guzman and Sadie Rusteika each collected two hits in the game.

The Pirates are currently on an 11 game win streak and will open Panhandle play on Tuesday when they travel to Northwest Florida.
