Softball Drop two at Gulf Coast

The Pensacola State softball team opened their spring break by dropping two games to Gulf Coast State.

Game one saw the Pirates out hit Gulf Coast, but they could not push enough runs across and fell 4-1.

The Commodores used a combination of hits and walks to plate all four of their runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Pirates answered in the top of the fifth when Kat McGlamry walked to start things and advanced to second on a single from Sadie Rusteika. Madison Myers laid a sacrifice bunt down to advance the runners and eventually McGlamry scored on a passed ball.

Shayne O'Connell went the distance on the rubber and gave up five hits while striking out eight. Alexis Guzman and Sadie Rusteika were both 2-for-3 in the game.

In game two the Pirates again out hit the Commodores, but could not string together the hits and they lost 6-0.

Madison Myers was the only Pirate to collect multiple hits as she went 2-for-4 at the plate and swiped one stolen base.

Savannah Foster threw a complete game and allowed seven hits while picking up two strikeouts.
