Pirates Split with Tallahassee

The Pirates came out firing on all cylinders in game one against Tallahassee and picked up a 9-0 victory in five innings.

Pensacola State scored their first run of the game when Ashley Valencia worked a bases loaded walk. She was immediately followed by Natalie Sorensen who drove a double to right field to plate two more runs. Kayla Leibman then stepped up to the plate and singled to left to make the score 4-0.

The scoring continued in the second inning when Madison Myers reached on an error and Kaeleen Koehler was hit by a pitch to set the table for Alexis Guzman to line an RBI double to left. Later in the inning Sorensen drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to right to make it 7-0.

The lead was extended to nine in the fourth inning courtesy of an RBI single from Leibman and an RBI ground out from Madisen Nelson.

Shayne O'Connell was in command of the circle all game as she only allowed one hit as she struck out 10.

Unfortunately in game two the Pirate bats went quiet and they fell 3-0.

Madison Myers, Ashley Valencia and Raquel Latta each picked up a hit in the game. Savannah Foster threw a complete game and allowed only two earned runs while striking out four.

The Pirates will take the field again on Monday, March 25th when they host Northwest Florida in a double header starting at 4:00 pm.
