Softball Sweeps Tallahassee

PSC 8 TCC 2

The Pirate softball team traveled to Tallahassee on Saturday and took the first game handily.

TCC scored two runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead courtesy of a home run, but the Pirates would tie it up in the top of the fourth when Gabbie York hit a 2-run home run.

Pensacola took the lead for good in the fifth when Marina Goins and Kylee Crowder hit back-to-back RBI singles. They plated another run with a sacrifice fly from Bre'Asia Thomas to take a 5-2 lead.

Three runs in the seventh, two from an RBI single off the bat of Brooke Vega rounded out the scoring.

Marina Goins was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kylee Crowder, Gabbie York and Kasey Markusic were all 2-for-4 in the game.

Gabriella Lindsey got her first start of the season and threw a complete game striking out five.

PSC 11 TCC 1 (5 innings)

The offense exploded in the second game and the Pirates pounded out 17 hits to end the game early.

In the fourth inning PSC sent 12 batters to the plate and put together seven hits including a 3-run home run from Kylee Crowder and a solo home run from Bre'Asia Thomas.

Cara Willis, Bre'Asia Thomas and Gabbie York were 3-for-4 in the game. Marina Goins, Kylee Crowder and Brooke Vega all added two hits. Every batter reached safely in the game for the Pirates.

Kylie Jarman got her fifth win of the season going the distance in the circle. The southpaw only allowed two hits in the game and struck out five.
