Pirates Go Toe to Toe with Northwest

The Pirates rally in the seventh came up short in the first game on Friday. Northwest took an early 4-0 lead thanks to an error and 3-run home run. They held a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh when Pensacola's offense finally got going.

Pensacola batted around in the final frame and put up five runs with a 2-RBI double from Kylee Crowder making it 7-5. Unfortunately, NWF was able to get a ground out to end the game.

Kasey Markusic led the offense going 2-for-3 with an RBI while Crowder and Karri Pritchard each added a hit and drove in runs.

Yala Zwakman came on in relief in the second inning and finished the game striking out four and only allowing two earned runs.

Northwest Florida 9 PSC 6

In the second game Pensacola came out hot and scored two runs in each of the first three innings. Northwest put up five runs in the top of the third courtesy of defensive miscues. They then used the long ball to extend their lead in the sixth and the Pirates could not push anymore runs across.

Kasey Markusic stayed hot and went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Kylee Crowder blasted her 13th home run as she, Marina Goins and Gabbie York all went 2-for-4.

Madison Sabo got the start and threw 3.1 innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out three. Kylie Jarman closed out the game and allow allowed three earned runs.

The Pirates will host Tallahassee for the final doubleheader of conference play on Wednesday, April 17th starting at 4:00 pm.
