Lady Pirates Sweep the Weekend

The Lady Pirate basketball team had another successful weekend as they picked up wins over Parkland College and College of Central Florida. In the first game on Friday they easily downed Parkland 95-43. The Lady Pirates placed four players in double figures as Ta'Sheanne Armstrong, Naterria Luster and Mylashia Yancey each finished with 19 points while Brandi Washington added 14 points in just 12 minutes of play. Collectively PSC shot 52% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line. Armstrong, Yancey and Aminat Jubril led the team in rebounding with each pulling down six in the game and Ahyiona Vason dished out a game high five assists. 

On Saturday the Lady Pirates found themselves locked into a battle down to the wire versus Central Florida. While they had no trouble finding the bottom of the net against Parkland this game was a different story. The Lady Pirates were 15% from the 3-point arc and a paltry 57% from the free throw line. However, when it mattered most Vason stepped up and knocked down three out of four clutch free throws with under 20 seonds left in the game to seal the 67-65 win. Vason contributed a game high 17 points and five assists while Kaloni Pryear added 14 points and Luster finished with 13 points. Jubril led the effort on the boards as she grabbed seven rebounds.
