Lady Pirates Drop Game to NWF

Lady Pirates Drop Game to NWF

The no. 13 Lady Pirates dropped a tough 60-49 game to no. 3 Northwest Florida State (NWF) this past weekend. Unfortunately Pensacola State (PSC) started the game behind the eight ball as they were playing without two starters due to injury.

The Raiders came out hot in the first quarter and took an early 21-9 lead that they built into a 36-18 halftime score.

The Lady Pirates came out of the half showing some fire and outscored NWF 21-14 in the third quarter to make the game competitive at 50-39. In the fourth they were able to fight within five points, but could never pull even.

PSC had three players score in double digits as Nia Johnson and Ahyiona Vason both put up 11 points and Mylashia Yancey added 10. Aminat Jubril led the effort on the boards as she grabbed eight rebounds in the game.

The tough competition continues as the Lady Pirates will host no. 4 Gulf Coast State on Wednesday, January 31. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
