Lady Pirates Come Up Short Against TCC

The Lady Pirates came up short and lost to Tallahassee Community College (TCC) on Wednesday evening 66-57.

The Eagles started hot and jumped to an 11-0 lead as soon as the game started, but Pensacola State (PSC) was able to finally settle in and the score was 17-9 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Lady Pirates went on a run of their own at the seven minute mark as they reeled of nine unanswered points and took their first lead of the game. After some back and forth TCC walked into the locker room for halftime with a 29-26 lead.

The game stayed close until halfway through the third quarter when TCC pulled ahead by double-digits and the score sat at 48-38 as the fourth quarter began.

The Lady Pirates utilized some 3-pointers and pressure defense to go on a 15-6 run to hang in the game, but their shooting went cold the last three minutes of the game and TCC prevailed.

Naterria Luster (18 points) and Ta'Sheanne Armstrong (16 points) were the only Lady Pirates to score in double figures, while Aminat Jubril pulled down 10 rebounds. Ahyiona Vason used her speed to tally five steals in the game.

With the loss PSC is now 17-7 overall and 1-7 in Panhandle play and have been eliminated from qualifying for the postseason.

They will host Northwest Florida State on February 10 at 5:30 pm.
