Women's Basketball Adds New Assistant

Head Coach Penny Belford has added Danielle Cole to the PSC Women's Basketball staff.

Cole joins the Lady Pirate staff after graduating from Delta State University in May 2018 with a Master's Degree in Sport and Human Performance. While at Delta State, Cole served as a graduate assistant for women's basketball. Cole prepared scouting reports, film breakdowns, and assisted with the direction of individual workouts. She also assisted with developing practice plans, along with weight lifting sessions.

Prior to her time at Delta State, Cole returned to The University of West Alabama to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in May of 2016. In 2013 Cole served as the student assistant for women's basketball under the direction of Craig Roden (Delta State) at West Alabama. Her duties included scouting reports, film breakdowns, along with individual workouts, and the development of practices plans.

As a player at West Alabama, Cole was a key cog for the Tigers during the 2011-2012 season on the court, averaging 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds while being second on the team in minutes per game at 27.6.

Cole was selected to the Gulf South Conference All-Tournament team for her efforts throughout the tournament as the Tigers knocked off the University of Alabama at Huntsville 86-74 for the first Gulf South Conference Championship in school history.  That championship earned the Lady Tigers a berth in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Prior to her time as a Tiger, she collected multiple accolades in her playing career at East Central Community College. Cole was an All-Conference selection and was also a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North vs. South All-Star game participant as a member of the Lady Warriors squad. Cole also became the newest member of East Central Community College's Athletic Wall of Fame in 2010.

A native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Cole helped lead the Philadelphia High School Lady Tornadoes to four straight division 5-2A Championships, 2 South State 2A championships in 2006 and 2008, the first 2A State Championship in school history in 2006, and also 2A State Championship Runner-Up in 2008. Cole was selected as a member of the MHSAA North vs. South All-Star Game in 2007, and also a member of the Mississippi vs. Alabama All-Star team in 2008.
