Lady Pirates Split Over the Weekend

The Pensacola State women's basketball team picked up a win against Cleveland State before falling to South Georgia Tech over the weekend. Continue reading below for individual game recaps.

PSC 64 Cleveland State 44

The Lady Pirates took a one point lead into halftime before turning on the jets in the second half and putting the game away versus the Cougars on Saturday. 

Xerina Walker picked up her first double-double of the season as she scored 10 points while pulling down 10 rebounds, seven of those on the offensive end. Kailya Jackson was the high scorer for the Pirates with 12 points and Anita Payne contributed 10 points. Daja Woodard came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds in the game. 

PSC 61 South GA Tech 73

The 25th ranked Lady Pirates came up short against the 11th ranked Jets on Sunday. South Georgia Tech took a two point lead into halftime and was able to hold on for the 73-61 win. 

Daja Woodard was a force off the bench for PSC as she put up a game high 19 points and collected her third double-double of the season by grabbing 11 rebounds. Kailya Jackson also recorded a double-double in the game, her first of the season, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Brandi Washington (13 points) and Anita Payne (11 points) were the only other Lady Pirates to score in double digits while Kaiya Burnett dished out a season high six assists for PSC. 

Pensacola State will travel to Bishop State on Tuesday, November 27th for a game at 5:30 pm.
