Lady Pirates Improve to 12-2 on the Season

The Pensacola State women's basketball team won three games last week to improve to 12-2 on the season. Continue reading below for individual game recaps.

PSC 75 Bishop St. 50

The Lady Pirates rebounded from a slow start to easily handle Bishop State on Tuesday. Daja Woodard was the high scorer in the game with 21 points. Three other Lady Pirates scored in double digits as Brandi Washington added 19 points, Kaiya Burnett provided 18 points off the bench and Zamaria Polk tallied 10. Polk recorded her first double-double of the season as she grabbed a team high 10 rebounds. Kailya Jackson and Burnett both dished out five assists each in the game. 

PSC 88 Lawson St. 49

On Friday the Lady Pirates found themselves tied with Lawson State after the first quarter before they got the offense flowing and put the game away against Lawson State. The defense was strong for PSC in the game as they forced 34 turnovers. Brandi Washington scored a game high and person best 27 points while Kailya Jackson contributed 13 and Daja Woodard added 11. Xerina Walker worked hard on the boards grabbing 10 rebounds, seven of them on the offensive end. 

PSC 81 College of Central Florida 44

Pensacola State took a 41-20 lead into halftime on Saturday and never looked back as they downed the College of Central Florida 81-44. Daja Woodard recorded her sixth double-double of the year by scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Brandi Washington and Kaiya Burnett both contributed 18 points in the game. The Lady Pirates hounded Central Florida on the defensive end and forced a season high 37 turnovers. 

The Lady Pirates will have a small break and will not return to action until December 28th when they host North Arkansas College to kickoff the Pensacola Classic.
