Rachel Barnes enters her third season with the Lady Pirates. She joined the PSC staff after her playing career at Seward County as well as her two year stint at Providence College.

After Barnes graduated from Providence College she returned to Seward to be a part of Head Coach Toby Wynn's staff, after being a fan favorite in their program. Barned played for Seward from 2008-2010, earning All-American honors as a sophomore following a record breaking career. Barnes finished her Lady Saints career as the 4th all-time leading scorer with 1,170 points, averaging 17.2 points per game during her two year career. She is also in the school's all-time top 10 in five other categories including: free throws (3rd), 3-point field goals made (10th), field goals (4th), rebounds (5th), and steals (4th).

Barnes' sophomore season for Seward was one for the ages. She led the Lady Saints to a Jayhawk West Conference Championship with a 15-1 record and guided Seward to the Region VI Title game before seeing their season end with a 31-3 overall record. Barnes finished the season with 724 points, which is 2nd most in a single season in school history, while averaging 21.3 points per game, one of just five players in school history to ever average more than 20 points per game in school history. In the Lady Saints Region VI Tournament semifinal against Cowley, Barnes scored a school record 41 points, had 16 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and had 7 steals in a near quadruple-double to lead Seward to a win. At season's end she was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American, a WBCA All-American, the Jayhawk West Player of the Year, and the Region VI Player of the Year.

After finishing her career with the Lady Saints, she moved on to Providence College where she played for the Friars for two seasons. She played in 41 games with the Big East's Providence, averaging over 9 points per game for the Friars. As a senior she put up 10.7 points per game, drawing 28 starts and playing in 29 ballgames. She scored a career high 22 points against Harvard and grabbed a career high 10 rebounds against Cincinnati. 

Barnes is responsible for scouting opponents, recruiting, coordinating travel, community service events, as well as guard and post development. She was instrumental in coaching a pair of All-Panhandle Conference Selections (Alaysia Mitchell & Tyisha Moore).
