Barned played for Seward from 2008-2010, earning All-American honors as a sophomore following a record breaking career. Barnes finished her Lady Saints career as the 4th all-time leading scorer with 1,170 points, averaging 17.2 points per game during her two year career. Barnes' sophomore season for Seward was one for the ages. She led the Lady Saints to a Jayhawk West Conference Championship with a 15-1 record and guided Seward to the Region VI Title game before seeing their season end with a 31-3 overall record. Barnes finished the season with 724 points, which is 2nd most in a single season in school history, while averaging 21.3 points per game, one of just five players in school history to ever average more than 20 points per game in school history. In the Lady Saints Region VI Tournament semifinal against Cowley, Barnes scored a school record 41 points, had 16 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and had 7 steals in a near quadruple-double to lead Seward to a win. At season's end she was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American, a WBCA All-American, the Jayhawk West Player of the Year, and the Region VI Player of the Year.

After finishing her career with the Lady Saints, she moved on to Providence College where she played for the Friars for two seasons.
