Volleyball Holds Pirate Invitational

The Pensacola State volleyball team welcomed Pasco-Hernanado State, Daytona State, Gulf Coast State and the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota to Pensacola this past weekend for the Pirate Invitational. It was a tough weekend of games and the Pirates finished the weekend without winning a match. 

In the first game of the weekend the Pirates fell to Pasco-Hernando State 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 23-25, 11-25). Ytae Cobb led the Pirates with 14 kills while Bailey Powell contributed 9 kills.

The Pirates faced No. 14 Daytona State in their second game and again lost 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 18-25, 18-25). The Pirates collected 43 kills as a team with Zadie Engelberger leading the way with 14. Allison von Brock led the defense with six digs in the game. 

PSC closed out the weekend facing the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota and continued the theme of the weekend by dropping the game 3-1 (16-25, 26-24, 23-25, 13-25). Powell led the hitters with 10 kills, von Brock recorded 13 digs while Annie Bradshaw chipped in 10 digs. 

Gulf Coast State also competes in the Panhandle Conference with the Pirates, therefore they did not play each other. The next match for the Pirates is September 5 against the University of Mobile - JV team.
