In 2007, the basketball gymnasium was dedicated as the Ed Hartsell Arena in honor of PSC's third president. The facility was renovated in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan struck the campus. The Hartsell Arena is located in the Lou Ross Center. The Pirate men's and women’s basketball teams, as well as the Lady Pirate Volleyball team practice and compete in the Hartsell Arena. In addition, the college's intramural department provides intramural basketball among their many activities in the Arena.
