PSC Survives Bryant and Stratton With 9-7 Win

PSC baseball opened their season with a come from behind 9-7 victory Friday against Bryant and Stratton. Pensacola led for the majority of the game but a late rally by the Bobcats in the top of the 8th gave them a 7-6 lead. Pensacola would answer back in the bottom half of the 8th with three runs. Freshman Owen Cuthbert would single to start the inning followed by a Luke Coker walk. Both runners would end up in scoring position and with two outs Sophomore Ryan Brewer would drive them home. Fausto Lopez would follow up with a double to add the third run of the inning and increase the Pirate lead to 9-7. That would be more than enough for pitcher Ryan Brewer to close out the Bobcats.

DJ Wilkinson got the start on the mound for the Pirates and went 5 innings while giving up 2 runs and struck outs 6. Tyler Olah would relieve Wilkinson by throwing 2 innings and strikeout 4. Ryan Brewer would get the win on the mound by going 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and strike out 4.

Pensacola was led offensively by Ryan Brewer who went 3-4 with 2 RBI's and Luis Colon who went 1-1 (3RBI's) with his first homerun of the season. Fausto Lopez had 2 doubles for the Pirates.

Pensacola will be back in action tomorrow with a double header starting at 12:00 at Pirate Field.
