PSC Splits Series With Central Alabama By Winning 2 Games on Weekend

PSC splits the series with Central Alabama winning Game one Saturday 11-1 and dropping Game two 5-4.

Freshman Jake Sweeney got the start game one for the Pirates and pitched really well. He kept Trojan batters off balance throughout the game. He would throw 4 innings giving up 1 run while striking out six. The Pensacola offense would get going in the third inning by putting up 5 runs. Fausto Lopez would drive in two of those runs with a double down the left field line. Jack Culumovic, Josh Rulli, and Ryan Brewer would drive in runs with RBI hits as well. Pensacola would pick up 4 more runs in the fourth and 2 in the fifth to put the game away. Griffin Brown would have one clean inning in relief.

In game two the Trojans would get to Pirate starter Sam Knowlton early. CAAC would add four runs in the first three innings. Tyson Ellis would relieve Knowlton and go 3 innings alowing 1 unearned run and keep the Pirates in the game.  Pensacola couldn't quite get the bats going until the final inning. Down 5-0, the Pirates would rally to make the game interesting. With one out and runners on first and second, Fausto Lopez would hit a 0-0 fastball over the right field wall to cut the lead to 5-3. PSC would add another run on a RBI single by Ryan Brewer to cut the lead to one. The Pirates would load the bases with two outs before grounding out to end the game.

The Pirates are now 6-2 on the year and will host three games this weekend with the first starting Friday at 2:00 against Coastal Alabama East.
