PSC Opens 2020 Season This Weekend

Pensacola State will open up the 2020 season this weekend in Auburndale, Florida. The Pirates will play Pasco-Hernando Friday at 11:00 in a 9-inning contest. Saturday will feature a double header against South Florida State College and Indian River.

Pensacola returns a few sophomores that made big contributions for the Pirates last season. Angel Diaz was a Second-Team All-Panhandle Conference player while batting .302 with 4 homeruns and 30 RBI's. On the mound, Dominick Miller, Sam Knowlton, and Logan Miracle threw significant innings for PSC. The Pirates have also added several newcomers who are expected to make a big impact on the field. Freshman pitcher David Warren should be a conference starter for Pensacola. Kyle Music is a freshman transfer from the University of Kentucky that will have a major role on the mound. Freshman Jovanni Canegitta is a very talented centerfielder that swings it well from both sides of the plate. Former Gulf Breeze star, Brandon Schrepf is a potential draft candidate that transferred from USF and should hit in the middle of the lineup this season. Hunter Brittain and Allante Hall are both big time catching prospects that will both contribute behind the plate.

Coach Lewallyn on his 2020 team: "I'm really excited to get started with this group. We have some guys that are starting to learn how to play at the next level and guys that are just starting to scratch the surface of what their potential is. Most importantly, we have a group of guys that work hard, are coachable and like to compete. I'm excited to see what this group does over the course of the season and where their careers go!"
