Pirates Sweep East Central 7-2, 12-9

Pensacola State Baseball rcorded two wins against East Central Community College on Wednesday afternoon. The Pirates would face an early deficit in both games but the offense would answer with multiple big innings to put each game out of reach. Follow below for game recaps of Wednesday afternoon. 

PSC 7 ECCC 2

East Central would take an early lead in the first inning  with two runs off Pensacola starter Sam Knowlton. Knowlton would walk the first hitter he saw then get a groundball that the Pirates couldn't turn. With 1 out and runners on fist and second Jesse Boydstun would deliver a 2-run double to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Sam Knowlton would shut out EC in the second before turning the ball over to the Pirate bullpen. 

The Pirate offense would be held in check through the first three innings as the Warriors still maintained a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, however, the Pirate bats would come alive with six runs in the inning. With two outs and Jovanni Canegitta on third base, Brayden Morrow would come through with a RBI single up the middle. Morrow would steal second and Hunter Brittain would single up the middle to drive in Morrow. Diaz would keep the rally going with a walk and Schrepf would deliver another RBI single to score Brittain from second. Allende Gil would deliver the fourth 2-out RBI single plating Diaz from second base. An errant throw would send home Schrepf and Diaz and give the Pirates 6-2 lead. 

Jovanni Canegitta would extend the lead on a solo homerun in the fifth inning. The freshman went 1-2 with 2 runs and a RBI. 

Cole Beverlin would get the ball for the Pirates in the fourth inning and go 4 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. 

PSC 12 ECCC 9

Once again PSC would fall behind 2-0 before they would come to the plate. Pensacola would get a run back in the first and tie the game with a run in the second inning. 

The Pirates would blow it open with 3 runs in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded and 2 outs Allante Hall would deliver 3-run double to right to clear the bases and give the Pirates a 5-3 lead. In the fourth inning, the Pirates would score 7 runs on 6 hits and build a 12-3 lead. 

ECCC would get back in the game in the top of the sixth inning with 6 runs on 7 hits to close the PSC lead to 12-9. 

Cam Kelly would close it out for Pensacola in the seventh inning. 

PSC was led offensively by Allante Hall (3-4, 2R,2B, 3RBI's) and Brandon Schrepf (2-3,R, 2RBI's). 

Dominick Miller got the win on the mound for Pensacola going 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 5. 

Pensacola will be back in action at home Friday against Coastal Alabama East at 1:00.
