Pirates Win Two Over the Weekend

The Pirates opened the weekend of Friday with a 16-13 loss to Mineral Area.

Offensively, Pensacola was led by Colton Ryals with two hits and a double while Blaydon Plain added two hits as well. Andreaus Lewis hit a game tying 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, but the defense could not hold on. Lewis finished the game with four RBI.

PSC avenged their loss on Saturday by taking down Mineral Area 8-2.

Four Pirates had multi-hit games - Andreaus Lewis, Blaydon Plain, Carson Hepworth and Todd Clay. Carter McCulley hit a home run to get the scoring started and Todd Clay had a bases loaded double. Clay finished with four RBI on the day.

On the mound, Josiah Glodfelter went five innings giving up two runs on four hits while striking out nine. Jake Cohen came in out of the pen and struck out two in two innings of work.

The Pirates picked up a 3-1 win over East Central Mississippi in the second game on Saturday. It was a pitcher's duel and hits were hard to come by, but Blaydon Plain drove in a run with one hit, while Carter McCulley hit the lone double of the day.

On the mound, Brett Nestande and Neco Lopez were fantastic. Nestande went five innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and striking out 10 and walking none. Neco Lopez finished the game out with two innings of work and allow no hits and struck out three.
