Baseball Goes 5-1 Last Week

March 1

Pirates run-rule Coastal Alabama-South in five innings 14-1. Led offensively by Blaydon Plain who went 3-for-3 with a home run and scoring four runs. Michael Young went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Andreaus Lewis also hit a home run and drove in two runs. On the mound, Brett Nestande got the win and pitched three innings, giving up one hit and zero runs. Neco Lopez finished the game going one inning with no hits or runs.

March 3

Pirates beat Delgado 10-2. Offensively the Pirates hit four home runs, coming from Carter McCulley, Andreaus Lewis, Blaydon Plain, and Preston Herce. McCulley ended the day with three hits, a home run and a double, while driving in two and scoring three runs of his own. Carson Hepworth had a three-hit game, scoring two runs. On the mound, Andrew Lewis started and went five innings, giving up three hits and two runs while striking out seven. Court Connally and Mason Morello each went an inning a piece allowing no runs to score to finish the game.

March 4

Pirates beat Coastal Alabama-East 4-2. Led offensively by Carson Hepworth going 2-for-2 with a triple and walking twice, while driving in a run and scoring one. Andreaus Lewis had a double of his own, while driving in a run. On the mound, Press Jeffcoat got the start going five innings allowing zero earned runs and striking out three. Zach Kittrell finished the game going two innings, giving up no runs and striking out five batters.

March 4

Pirates defeat Frontier 12-0 in five innings. On offense, Blaydon Plain went 3-for-3 with a double and triple and scoring 2 runs. John Smith was 1-for-1 on the day with two walks and three runs scored. Todd Clay was 2-for-3 with a double. On the mound, Josiah Glodfelter went the full five innings, giving up zero runs on four hits and striking out 10 batters.

March 5

Pirates fall to Frontier 2-1. Offensively Blaydon Plain and Michael Young each picked up doubles. Plain scored the only run for the Pirates. On the mound, Jake Cohen came on in relief going 4.2 innings giving up four hits, zero runs, and striking out six batters.

March 5

Pirates beat Delgado 4-0. Javi Marrero was phenomenal on the mound. Javi had a complete game shutout, going seven innings and not surrendering a hit until the top of the 7th inning. He finished with no runs and nine strikeouts on the day. Offensively, Carter McCulley had two doubles and one RBI. Blaydon Plain hit another home run for the Pirates. John Smith had a two RBI double on the day.
