PSC Hangs on to Beat Chipola 83-82

Pensacola  State (14-11, 2-6) upset Chipola College (22-4, 5-3)  83-82 tonight.  PSC started slow and was down by 11 early in the first half; but, warmed up to pull within 4 at the half (40-36).  In the  second half, the Pirates came out firing and took an 8 point lead 48-40 with 15:54 left.  Chipola came back and kept the game close tying the game twice.  The last tie was at 78 with 1:40 to go.  PSC led 83-82 on a full court pass from Elmo Cowart to De'monte Nelson with 26 seconds left.  Chipola had a chance to win with 4 seconds left but missed the lay up as time ran out.

Chipola was led by Daniel Oladapo with 21 points. Bitumba Banuti had 17 points.  Keishawn Brewton had 14 and Malik Zachary added 10.

The Pirates were led by Mike Mcdougal with 22 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.  De'monte Nelson finished with 16 points.  Montero Yeikson added 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  Shawndarius (Elmo) Cowart had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals in 38 minutes on the court.

Pensacola heads Northwest Florida on Saturday Feb, 9 to begin the final conference rotation of the season.
