PSC Moves to 2-0 In Conference With Late Rally Saturday Night

Pensacola State College hosted Chipola College for the early lead in the Panhandle Conference with the Pirates taking the win 74-73.  Chipola would take a 40-31 lead into halftime due to a 9-0 run late in the first half.  Pensacola State (13-6, 2-0) trailed Chipola until 3:15 left when Carlos Rosario put back a tip in to give the Pirates a 68-67 lead. With Pensacola hanging on to a two point lead, Shawndarius Cowart would make his final free-throw to give the Pirates a 74-71 lead. Guarding the three point line, Chipola scored the the last basket at the buzzer to give PSC the win 74-73 and the lead in the Panhandle Conference.  Pensacola is the only undefeated team in the conference and improved their conference record to 2-0.  

 

Chipola (13-6, 1-1) was led by Marial Mading with 21 points. Lat Mayen had 18 and Cheikh Faye 14.

 

Pensacola was led by Carlos Rosario with 24 pts. and 7 rebounds.  Rodney Smith had 12 pts and  Shawndarius Cowart finished with 9 points and 12 assists.

 

PSC plays next Wednesday at Tallahassee CC.
