Pirates Late Run Falls Short Against Gulf Coast

Pensacola State's (14-8,3-2) valiant run in the second half came up short in a 88-87 loss to Gulf Coast (17-4, 4-1) Wednesday night. PSC would cut the lead to 4 with 38 seconds left but a huge three-pointer from Gulf Coast would close out the Pirates chances of a come from behind victory. The Pirates struggled to stop Gulf Coast in the first half as the Commodores took a 20 point lead into halftime (51-31). Pensacola would get their offense going in the second half thanks to a career night from sophomore Carlos Rosario. He lead all scorers with 30pts. and 12 rebounds. Bryce Waterman added 15pts.(5-10 Threes). Josh Williams and Shawndarius Cowart would score in double digits for Pensacola. 

Gulf Coast was led by Cameron Holden with 28pts. Jacolby Owens would add 18pts for the Commodores and Maurice Gordon finished with 14 pts.

With the loss, Pensacola is a game back of Gulf Coast in the Panhandle Conference standings. 

Pensacola has a bye this weekend and will play at Chipola next Wednesday.
