Shawndarius Cowart Commits To Hofstra

Shawndarius Cowart has committed to Hofstra University to play under coach Joe Mihalich. The Pensacola State guard hopes to be a big contributor for the Pride next season. Hofstra is coming off of back to back 25+ win seasons. The Pride finished 26-8 this season and captured their second consecutive CAA regular season title.

A native of Pensacola, Shawndarius played basketball for coach Terrence Harris at Pensacola High. After high school, Cowart would choose to stay home and play for Coach Pete Pena at Pensacola State. Cowart would make an immediate impact on the floor for the Pirates as a freshman. As a sophomore, Cowart became one of the most complete players in the Panhandle Conference.  He finished top 10 with 13.2 points per game. His 7.4 rebounds per game ranked third and he led the conference with 6.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game. For Cowart's performance, he was voted First-Team All Panhandle Conference.
