Pirates Get First Win of Season

The Pirates earned their first victory of the season with an 86-47 win at home over Potter's House Academy out of Jacksonville.

The Pirates took a commanding halftime lead 44-26 and never looked back. The team shot an outstanding 54.8% from the field, 41.2% from the 3-point range, and 78.6% from the free throw line.

The Pirates defense held Potter's House to a paltry 32.7% from the field.

The Pirates had five players in double digits in the scoring column. The Oxford, Alabama natives Zondrick Garrett and Justin Moore led the way with 19 and 18 points each. Truth Harris added 15 points, along with eight assists, and six rebounds. Tre Valeriano added 11 points going 3-6 from behind the 3-point arc, while Naim Miller chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Carlos Felix also added eight points to go along with a team high nine rebounds.

The Pirates hit the road for the next three games starting Friday when they travel to the Florida JUCO Shootout.
