Pirates Take Two at Thanksgiving Classic

The Pirates won two out of three last week in the Pirate Thanksgiving Classic, a tournament that did not happen last season because of Covid.

The Pirates opened up with a 60-54 loss against a battle tested no. 19 ranked Odessa College. Zondrick Garrett led the way for the Piratres with 21 points and six rebounds. D'Anthony Pennington chipped in 10 points, going 2-for-4 from the 3-point arc, and Naim Miller added eight points and eight rebounds.

The Pirates bounced back the following night, beating no. 15 ranked Lamar State College 56-51. Zondrick Garrett again led the Pirates in scoring with 18 points. Truth Harris contributed 13 points, and Jarvey Gainey came off the bench and added 11 points.

To finish the week off, the Pirates defeated Southern Arkansas Tech 67-55. This time the Pirates were led by Jarvey Gainey with 22 points, going 4-for-5 from three and Zondrick Garrett added 11 points. Overall, the Pirates shot 44.6% from the field, and 44.4% from the 3-point range.

The Pirates will next play at home on Wednesday, December 1st versus Bishop State at 7:00 pm.
