Pirates Split Over the Weekend

Monroe 70 PSC 67 (OT)
Pensacola fell behind early, but slowly climbed their way back to make it an exciting game on Friday night. The Mustangs held a 36-27 lead going into halftime. With under six minutes to go PSC was behind 53-43 and they chipped away and tied the game at 57-57 with a little over two minutes to go. The teams traded baskets the rest of the way and Roderick Coffee III shot at the buzzer rimmed out and sent the game into overtime.
Monroe pounded the ball inside to start overtime and held a 67-61 lead with 2:15 on the clock. The Pirates pulled within three with 38 seconds remaining and got the ball back. Harry Santiago was fouled on a 3-point attempt with about five seconds left on the clock. He missed the first free throw, but drained the next two to pull PSC within one. A foul sent the Mustangs to the line where they converted both shots to make it 70-67. With no timeouts remaining Pensacola inbounded the ball with 3.6 on the clock and Santiago's three point attempt bounced out.
Jarveil Gainey led all scorers with 19 points and Zondrick Garrett just missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Roderick Coffee III contributed 10 points.
Gaston 68 PSC 73
The Pirates responded on Saturday defeating the Gaston College Rhinos 73-68 in a hard fought game. Pensacola went into halftime down 37-25, but proceeded to outscore the Rhino's 48-31 in the second half to secure the win.
Harry Santiago was the high scorer in the game with 22 points. Jalen Keago added 13 points and five rebounds while Zondrick Garrett chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds.
Pensacola will host Coastal Alabama-South on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00 PM.
