The Pirates will begin the season in Marianna, FL as they participate in the Chipola Invitational. When the Pirates take on Southwest Mississippi, there will be a new name on the Pirates roster to watch, Elijah Wyche. The 6'6", do it all type of player began his career for first year head coach Grant Leonard at Queens University, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Wyche is a native of Fort Lauderdale, FL where he played his high school ball at Pembroke Pines Charter School.  

In his one season at Queens, Wyche saw action in twenty games and shot over 60% from the floor as a true freshman. Wyche led Pembroke Pines Charter to a 5A State Championship in 2021 as he poured in 27 points to lead the Jaguars in the title game.  

Since Wyche arrived on campus in June the coaching staff has been raving about his work ethic, attention to detail and his all-around toughness which will serve him well, especially when Panhandle Conference play starts in January.
