Former Local Product and Pirate Star Signs Professional Contract

Shawndarius Cowart the former Pensacola High and Pensacola State standout has signed his first professional contract in Canada.

The 6'2" guard finished his collegiate career after stops at Hofstra University and Grambling State University. While at Grambling he averaged 11.5 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game in his senior campaign. These statistics landed him Second Team All-SWAC honors.

Going back to his time at PSC, Shawndarius was 1st Team All-Panhandle Conference where he averaged 11.6 points per game, a staggering 8.3 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game, while leading the Pirates to a 17-12 record.

Head Coach Pete Pena had this to say when he found out Shawndarius had signed his first professional contract, "I'm very proud of Shawndarius and everything he has done, I'm most proud of him getting his degree at Grambling State University."
