Pirates Fall to #7 Chipola

Pensacola State traveled to Chipola on Wednesday and dropped a hard fought, physical game 66-57.

It was a low scoring first half that featured solid defense from the Pirates, and they took a 29-21 lead into halftime.

Chipola, the no. 7 ranked team in the country, found their footing in the second half. The Pirates are still shorthanded due to injury and ran out of steam. Jalen Keago led the way offensively with 16 points while also handing out five assists. Dylan Colon had an outstanding night with 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Calik "Duke" Thomas chipped in 13 points.

Head coach Pete Pena said, "I think our guys battled all night long and am really proud of our conference and our team because it was a great college basketball game that featured exceptional physicality and athleticism."

Pensacola will host Tallahassee on Saturday, January 20th with tipoff scheduled for 4:00 pm.
