Pirates Add Two Strong Wins

After a 10-day layoff, the Pirates returned to action on Saturday, December 7, against a tough Southwest Mississippi team that had previously defeated conference foe Chipola. Tylik Weeks, who averaged 25 points per game for the Bears, had a tough time against PSC, scoring only 15 points. The Pirates led most of the way until Southwest Mississippi took their first lead of the game with 16 seconds left. Amarion Savage then pushed the ball down the court and made the game-winning layup under heavy defensive pressure. Will Vasser scored 18 points, Amarion Savage had 16 points, and Dimitri Clerc added 10 points. Isaiah Sutherland put in an outstanding defensive effort, working hard against Weeks.

PSC 73 Miami Dade 53

The next day, Pensacola faced Miami Dade and played extremely well, assisting on 20 of the 28 shots they made. Dimitri Clerc led the offense with 19 points, Isaiah Sutherland scored 16, and Will Vasser added 10. It was a great team effort. Dylan Colon had an all around solid day posting seven points, seven assists, and seven rebounds. The Pirates had a 17-point lead at halftime and played evenly with Miami Dade for the rest of the game.

Next up, the Pirates will face Florida Coastal Prep during exam week on Wednesday, December 11, and they will take on Meridian on Saturday, December 14, before breaking for Christmas.
