In a thrilling semifinal matchup of the FCSAA tournament, the No. 6 seeded Pensacola State College Pirates faced off against the No. 7 seeded Miami Dade on Friday night. The Pirates emerged victorious with a 64-50 win, securing their place in the championship game.
Both teams struggled to find their rhythm offensively in the early stages of the game. However, Isaiah Sutherland's sharp shooting from beyond the arc, with three 3-pointers in the first half, helped PSC take a 31-20 lead into halftime.
The Pirates gradually found their flow in the second half. At the 10:04 mark, Amarion Savage drained a crucial 3-pointer, extending Pensacola's lead to double digits. The team continued to build on this momentum, stretching their advantage to 17 points with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Pensacola held firm to secure the 64-50 victory.
Sutherland and Savage were the top scorers for the Pirates, each contributing 16 points. Dimitri Clerc was a dominant presence inside, pulling down an impressive 18 rebounds.
With this win, Pensacola advances to the FCSAA Championship game, scheduled for 4:30 pm on Saturday, March 15th.
