Strong Pitching Leads Softball in Sweep of Enterprise

Jensen Strickland shut down Enterprise State on Tuesday in game one as she threw a complete game shutout.

The Pirate offense was boosted by Lia Johnson going 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored and two stolen bases. Pensacola State got things started in the first innings as Kaeleen Koehler singled to drive in Johnson for the first run of the game. The Pirates big offensive inning came in the fifth where they scored three runs including two being driven by a home run off the bat of Madison Marshall. Marshall was 2-for-3 in the game with the home run, a double and three RBI's. 

Strickland was in total control on the mound as she picked up her fourth win of the season while striking out three and only giving up two hits. 

In game two Savannah Foster tossed a gem of a game as she struck out eight batters and only gave up one hit. 

The Pirates exploded for seven runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach early. The offensive firepower was led by Natalie Sorensen, Sadie Rusteika, Lia Johnson, Kaeleen Koehler, Jensen Strickland and Madison Marshall all driving in RBI's in the inning. Marshall was 2-for-2 in the game with two RBI's and a stolen base. 

The Pirates will host Chattanooga State on Thursday, February 14 at 3:00 and 5:00 pm.
