Softball Tops Tallahassee

The Pensacola State (PSC) softball team traveled to Tallahassee on Wednesday and took a 7-4 win over the Eagles.

The Pirates jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to five walks and and RBI singles from Shelby Thornsberry and Caitlyn Yockey

In the second inning the scoring continued as Madison Marshall blasted a 3-run home run over the centerfield fence to extend the lead to 7-0.

Unfortunately the Pirate bats cooled off after that and they did not push across anymore runs in the game. Tallahassee managed to get on the board in the fourth inning, but the defense held strong and Shelby Griffin came on in relief in the fifth inning and only allowed one more run in the game.

Savannah Foster picked up the win (7-3) as she struck out six in four innings of work. Marshall, Thornsberry, Yockey, Alexis Guzman and Kaeleen Koehler all picked up hits in the game for PSC.

The Pirates will be back in action immediately as they host Northwest Florida on Thursday, April 12th at 4:00 pm.
