Pirates Drop Game to NWF

Both teams were strong on the mound on Thursday, but Northwest Florida State (NWF) proved to be a little stronger at the plate in a 2-0 victory over Pensacola State (PSC).

Despite out-hitting the Raiders six to four the Pirates could not push any runs across while NWF capitalized on a couple walks in the fourth inning and held on for the victory.

Kaeleen Koehler started the game on the mound and only gave up two hits in the loss while Jensen Strickland came in to throw three shutout innings of relief while striking out one and allowing only two hits.

Kayla Leibman picked up two hits in the game while Alexis Guzman, Shelby Thornsberry, Natalie Sorensen and Strickland each collected one hit.

The Pirates are still in possession of second place in the Panhandle conference with a 10-8 record while Gulf Coast is close behind with a 9-8 record. Pensacola State will face Chipola in Marianna, Florida on Saturday and then round out regular season play with Gulf Coast at home on Wednesday, April 18th.
