Pensacola State watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 9-1 loss to no. 1 ranked Chipola on Saturday. 

Chipola opened up the scoring in the first inning when they put up five runs. 

Kayla Leibman, Lia Johnson and Alexis Guzman each collected one hit for the Pirates on the day while Shelby Thornsberry reached base twice courtesy of being hit by pitches. Caitlyn Yockey scored the Pirates lone run in the game in the fifth inning by stealing home when the Chipola catcher threw behind the runner at second base. 

The Pirates will host Gulf Coast State on Wednesday, April 18 and can clinch second place in the Panhandle Conference with a win.
