Seven Pirates Named All-Panhandle

The 2018-19 All-Panhandle Conference teams have been announced and Pensacola State had seven players honored. 

Savannah Foster, Madison Myers and Shayne O'Connell were named to the 1st Team while Alexis Guzman, Kaeleen Koehler, Sadie Rusteika and Ashley Valencia made the 2nd Team. 

Foster is a redshirt sophomore, pitcher who logged 147 innings of work this season. She is currently 14th in the nation with 168 strikeouts on the season and finished with a 2.99 ERA. 

Myers is a speedy freshman who batted lead off for the Pirates while playing shortstop this season. She batted a solid .379 while stealing 41 bases this was good enough to make her 11th in the nation. 

O'Connell is a sophomore transfer who led the Pirates in innings pitched (161), wins (17), strikeouts (234) and ERA (1.87). Her 234 strikeouts currently rank her number one in the nation. 

This is Guzman's second All-Panhandle selection as she was named 1st Team as a freshman. She a big hitting catcher who batted .333 this season with four home runs, 12 doubles and 35 RBI's. 

Koehler is a redshirt sophomore who started at first base this season. The big lefty led the team in RBI's (41), home runs (5) and doubles (13) while recording a .368 batting average.

Rusteika is a sophomore, utility player who was selected to the 2nd Team as an outfielder. She tallied a .361 batting average to go along with a .432 on base percentage. 

Valencia is a freshman, utility player who started the majority of her games in right field before missing the last 3 weeks of the season due to injury. Despite missing 10 games she sported a .388 batting average with four home runs and 29 RBI's.
