Ashley Valencia is a sophomore, utility player from Black Mountain, North Carolina. As a freshman she started a majority of games in right field and batted .388 with four home runs and 29 RBI's. Despite missing the last three weeks of the season due to an injury she was named Second Team All-Panhandle.

In 15 games so far this season Ashley is batting .326 with nine RBI's and hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning against no. 18 ranked Chattanooga State last week.

It was the first school I visited and it felt like home from the first time I stepped on campus.

Why do you play softball?

I enjoy the atmosphere of a softball game and getting to be around so many people that share the same passion for the game.

Describe your on field personality in three words.

Aggressive, leader and spirited

Who is your funniest teammate?

Our team is full of so many funny people I cannot decide.

What's the best advice you ever received?

When you become one with your breath no one can take your peace or joy.

What is your dream vacation/trip?

Bali

Who is someone that's influenced your life? Why?

Mia Hamm is someone that I have always looked up to. She was really talented in soccer and even though it wasn't softball I still looked up to her. She was a great person on and off the field and I enjoyed watching her play.

What have you enjoyed about this team so far?

The connection that we all have with each other this year, it truly feels like one big family. You know anything you can go to anyone on this team for help with anything.
