Poitevin & Trim Take Region 8 Awards
The Pensacola State softball team not only picked up five wins last week, but they also swept the weekly Region 8 awards for the second time this season.
Sophomore, first baseman Monique Poitevin was named Player of the Week. She batted .688 with nine RBI's, two doubles, a triple and homerun. In a close game against Gulf Coast State, Poitevin hit the go ahead 2-RBI double for the Pirates in the fifth inning.
Currently, Poitevin is leading the team with a .488 batting average and has driven in 17 RBI's.
Freshman Jenna Trim was outstanding in the circle last week and recorded two wins in two appearances. On Friday she entered the Gulf Coast State game in relief in the second inning and promptly shutdown the Commodores. Over six innings of work she struck out eight and only allowed two hits.
On Saturday, Trim got the start against Chipola and went the distance on the mound scattering five hits and not allowing any earned runs.
For the season Trim has throw 31 innings and is 5-0 while maintaining a 0.00 ERA.
