The first game proved to be a pitcher's duel on Wednesday.

The Pirates struck first in the second inning when Monique Poitevin led off with a single and Shaylan Whatman was hit by a pitch. Kelsi Bargman attempted to sacrifice the runner's over but reached safely thanks to a dropped ball. With the bases loaded Sajarie Jones drew a walk to allow the first run to cross the plate. Susanna Soldi also drew an RBI walk before Ellie Hansen was hit by a pitch to score the third run.

Tallahassee hit a solo homerun in the fourth to make the score 3-1. They struck again in the sixth inning when they score a run on a first and third situation. The Pirate defense buckled down to get out of the inning and Jenna Trim retired all three batters she saw in the seventh to close the game out.

Trim threw a complete game for her sixth win of the season and struck out sixth while only giving up three hits.

The nightcap was an offensive show from both teams. A sacrifice fly from Maddy Childs in the top of the first put a run on the board for PSC. In the bottom half of the inning TCC capitilized on walks to push two runs across.

Pensacola pulled even in the top of the second when Shaylan Whatman drove a solo homerun over the leftfield fence.

Tallahasse responded by driving in five runs in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 7-2.

In the third Ellie Hansen led off with a walk and eventually scored on an RBI single from Jenna Trim to make it 7-3. The Eagles pushed two more runs across in the bottom on the inning to make it 9-3.

The top of the fourth saw the Pirates push two runs across thanks to RBI singles from Hansen and Trim to pull within four.

A couple of homeruns in the bottom of the fifth extended TCC's lead to 12-5.

Maddy Childs answered with a homerun of her own in the sixth inning to make it 12-6.

The defense held and the Pirates attempted to pull off the comeback. Monique Poitevin and Shaylan Whatman had back-to-back singles to set the table for pinch hitter Jaycie Brookshire to drive in one run with a ball off the fence. Mya Geros followed with an RBI groudout to make it 12-9. Susanna Soldi stepped to the plate and drove in the Pirates 10th run, but the rally ended on a flyout to center.

Shaylan Whatman paced the offense going 3-for-4 with a homerun and RBI. Jenna Trim was 2-for-4 with three RBI's. Ellie Hansen also had two hits and two RBI's.

Pensacola is now 19-3 on the season and 5-1 in Panhandle play. They will host Northwest Florida State at home on Saturday, March 27th. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
