Chipola 0 PSC 1

Heleena Reinhardt threw a gem in the first game to help secure the Pirates 1-0 win.

It was a pitcher's duel and defensive battle throughout, but the Pirates were able to get on the board in the bottom on the third. Kelsi Bargman drove a double off the centerfield fence and with two outs Sajarie Jones dropped a well placed single into center field that allowed Bargman to score the lone run of the game.

Reinhardt picked up her second win of the season in as many starts. She scattered six hits and did not walk any while striking out one in the game.

Pensacola recorded three hits in the game with Sajarie Jones having two and Kelsi Bargman the third.

Chipola 4 PSC 7

The Pirates took the lead late and defeated Chipola in the nightcap 7-4.

Chipola struck first when they plated a run in the second inning. They still had runners on second and third, but PSC starter Avery Beauchaine picked up a strikeout to end the threat.

In the top of the third there were Indians on first and second with one out when Pensacola third baseman Shaylan Whatman scooped up a groundball, tagged her bag and threw across the diamond for the third out to end the inning.

After threatening in the fourth the Pirates finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth. Kelsi Bargman led off with a double off the fence in left and advanced to third on a well placed bunt that Mya Geros reached safely on. With runners at the corners Sajarie Jones singled through the right side to tie the game. Susanna Soldi followed with a single of her own to right that loaded the bases for Ellie Hansen. Hansen drove a 1-2 pitch to centerfield to plate two more runs and give PSC a 3-1 lead. A groundball from Maddy Childs allowed Soldi to cross the plate before Monique Poitevin singled to drive in Pensacola's fifth run.

The Indians were able to push three runs of their own across the plate in the top of the sixth to pull back within one, but the Pirate bats were awake now and they promptly responded in the bottom half of the inning.

Mya Geros laid down a perfect bunt down the third baseline to lead things off. With one out Susanna Soldi doubled to centerfield and scored Geros. Then Ellie Hansen joined the double party and drove in Soldi to give the Pirates a 7-4 cushion.

With a runner at one in the top of the seventh the game ended on a line drive to shortstop and the Pirates secured the sweep.

Avery Beauchaine collected her eighth win of the season as she went the distance and struck out three while only walking one batter.

The Pirates banged out 14 hits in the game with Susanna Soldi and Ellie Hansen each going 3-for-4 with a double. Kelsi Bargman, Monique Poitevin and Shaylan Whatman all had two hits in the game.

The two wins gave the Pirates a one game lead over Chipola in the conference standings. Pensacola will travel to Gulf Coast State on Thursday to take on the Commodores at 4 and 6.
