Softball Has 10 Named to All-Panhandle Team
The Pensacola State softball team had 10 players named to the All-Panhandle Conference team.
The Pensacola State softball team had 10 players named to the All-Panhandle Conference team. Seven players were recognized on the First Team, two on the Second Team and one recieved an Honorable Mention nod.
Shaylan Whatman is the Pirates starting third baseman and was named 1st Team All-Conference. She batted .390 on the season with eight homeruns and drove in 29 RBI's. Whatman had a stellar .933 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
First baseman Monique Poitevin is also a first teamer who batted .365 with nine doubles and 26 RBI's in the season. The sure handed lefty only had three errors on the year out of 227 total chances for a .987 fielding percentage.
Maddy Childs started every game at catcher for PSC and received a First Team nod. Childs batted .331 with a team leading 11 homeruns and team high 45 runs batted in.
Mya Geros is a First Team selection outfielder who split time between left and center field. Geros hit a team best .404 with nine doubles and 27 runs batted in.
Three of Pensacola's pitchers were voted onto the First Team.
Avery Beauchaine had a 10-1 record while throwing 74.1 innings. She struck out 39 batters while sporting a 3.96 ERA.
After spending the first part of the season as a relief pitcher, Heleena Reinhardt stepped into a starting role the last three weeks of conference play. She ended up being 4-1 with one save while throwing 45.1 innings with a 2.63 ERA.
Jenna Trim missed the last three weeks of the season due to an injury, but was still recognized for her dominance in the circle. Trim was a perfect 6-0 on the season and struck out 40 batters in 39 innings throw. She only allowed one earned run all season for a strong 0.18 ERA.
Starting shortstop Ellie Hansen received Second Team recognition for batting .376 with 42 RBI's. Hansen also led the team with 15 doubles this season.
Susanna Soldi, a lefty outfielder, was named to the Second Team. She batted .366 with four doubles and 26 RBI's. Soldi drew a team high 25 walks which helped give her the teams highest on base percentage at .479.
Second baseman Sajarie Jones received an Honorable Mention nod. The speedy leadoff batter hit .328 and was a perfect 19-for-19 in stolen bases. She also helped anchor the infield defense with a solid .962 fielding percentage.
Head Coach Lyndsey Angus was also recognized as the Conference Coach of the Year.
