Softball Sweeps Southeastern Illinois

SEI 0 PSC 8 (6 innings)

Lydia Drake did not allow a single run against Southeastern Illinois is game one, throwing a complete game shutout in a 8-0 victory.

Pensacola's bats came alive in the bottom of the third when Jenna Trim walked and Cameron Buzzell singled. After a fielder's choice Lydia Drake singled up the middle to drive in the first run. Kelsi Bargman walked to load the bases and then Mya Geros struck a 2-RBI single to left.

The Pirates added three more runs in the fourth when Susanna Soldi started things with a double and Georgia Hood walked to setup and RBI double from Jenna Trim. Cameron Wolfenden added another run with a sacrifice fly to left field and Lydia Drake plated the sixth run with a line drive up the middle.

A Georgia Hood walk and back-to-back singles from Jenna Trim and Cameron Buzzell loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth. An error gave PSC their seventh run before Mya Geros hit a walk off single off the left field fence to end the game early.

Jenna Trim was a perfect 2-for-2 in the game with a double, RBI and two walks. Lydia Drake was 2-for-3 with two RBI's while Cameron Buzzell and Mya Geros were both 2-for-4.

Lydia Drake picked up her sixth win in the circle striking out nine and only allowing three hits.

SEI 1 PSC 9 (5 innings)

In the second game Avery Beauchaine toed the rubber and walked away with a no-hitter.

The Pensacola defense got off to a shaky start allowing two baserunners to reach on errors, but they got out of the first only allowing one run.

In the bottom of the frame PSC used three singles in a row to plate their first run and then Brianna Duggins stepped to the plate and drove a double off the center field fence to score two more runs.

The fourth inning saw Mya Geros reach on a walk and later score on a passed ball. Then Susanna Soldi drove in the Pirates fifth run with a single to left.

Cameron Buzzell walked to lead of the fifth and eventually pinch runner Maddison Coones scores on a perfect squeeze bunt by Skylar Buzbee. Brianna Duggins stole home on a botched 1st and 3rd play before Isabelle Hanna bunted her way on. Again Mya Geros stepped to the plate and walked off the win with an RBI single.

Tori Ratigan had a perfect game at the plate going 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Susanna Soldi was 2-for-3 with two RBI's.

Avery Beauchaine collected her fifth win of the year stiking out eight. 

Pensacola moves to 21-3 on the season and will host Carl Sandburg on Monday.
