Nine Named to All-Panhandle Team
The Pensacola State softball team had nine players named to the All-Panhandle Team as well as Georgia Hood being named the Conference Player of the Year.
The Pensacola State softball team had nine players named to the All-Panhandle Team as well as Georgia Hood being named the Conference Player of the Year.
Georgia Hood, a first baseman/pitcher from Mt. Gambier, Australia, made the team as an at large selection. For the season Hood batted .450 with a team best 62 runs batted in and nine home runs. In the circle she was 11-2 with a team leading 1.48 earned run average and 83 strikeouts.
Joining her on the First Team were fellow Aussie's Mya Geros and Jenna Trim. Geros patrolled centerfield all season and batted .430 with 34 RBI's and 11 stolen bases. Trim split time between third base and first base while also making nine appearances in the circle. The clean up hitter batted. .384 with 16 doubles and 45 RBI's.
Shortstop and leadoff batter Tori Ratigan was also named to the First Team. The speedster batted .428 with and had an on-base percentage of .514 to go with 20 stolen bases.
Left handed pitcher Lydia Drake rounds out the First Team selections. She threw a team high 108.2 innings and struck out 112 batters while only walking 10. She had a sterling 14-1 record to go with a 1.74 ERA.
Susanna Soldi was named to the Second Team for the second time in her career. The lefty, Italian held down right field and the two-hole for the Pirates. She batted .331 and had a team high 28 base on balls.
Freshmen Brianna Duggins and Isabelle Hanna were also named to the Second Team. Duggins spent time this season as at third base and designated player. The powerful righty batted .397 with 35 RBI's and five home runs. Hanna found her stride in conference play and mainly spent her time in left field while also seeing some innings at second base. The quick lefty constantly pressured defenses and batted .358.
Cameron Buzzell rounded out the selection by receiving an Honorable Mention nod. The resilient second baseman batted .315 with 11 doubles and 26 RBI's.
